Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 3 June 2026

Welcome to Sauna at St. Helen’s Bay. These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings, visits, and use of our sauna facilities located at St. Helen’s Bay, Wexford, Ireland.

For the purpose of these terms, “the Sauna” (hereafter referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our”) shall be deemed to include its owners, directors, employees, servants, and/or agents. “You” and “your” refers to any customer, visitor, or individual utilizing our facilities.

Important Notice: We reserve the absolute right to refuse entry to any individual(s) who is or appears intoxicated, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and/or if we have concerns that an individual may pose a health and safety risk to themselves or others. Refunds or session credits will not be issued to anyone refused entry under these circumstances.

If you are making a booking on behalf of a group or private hire, it is your sole responsibility to make all users aware of these Terms and Conditions and to ensure they follow safe sauna practices.

1. General Conditions

  • Glass and Crockery: We do not allow glass bottles, glassware, or crockery to be brought into the sauna or the immediate outdoor shower area.
  • Pets: Pets are strictly prohibited at or inside the sauna facility at all times.
  • Smoking & Alcohol: Smoking (including the use of e-cigarettes/vapes) and the consumption of alcohol are strictly forbidden inside the sauna and the surrounding designated deck area.
  • Health & Safety Signs: Attention must be paid at all times to all signs relating to health and safety. If you do not understand a notice or sign, please ask an employee before proceeding.
  • Accidents or Injuries: If you suffer an accident or injury while using our facilities, you must report it immediately to a member of staff.
  • Clothing: Nudity is not permitted. Appropriate swimwear must be worn at all times during your session, including when using the outside cold shower.
  • Photography & Privacy: You may take photographs and video recordings for your own personal use. However, you are strictly prohibited from filming or photographing other sauna users without their prior express permission. No photography or video recording is permitted in the changing room area.
  • Prescription Glasses: Wearing prescription glasses inside the sauna is not recommended due to potential heat damage to frames and lens coatings.
  • Mobile Phones: For your safety and to protect your device, please do not use mobile phones inside the hot sauna room. High heat and humidity can cause device malfunction, battery overheating, personal injury, or pose a fire hazard.
  • Illness: You must not use the sauna facilities if you are suffering from an infectious illness, open wounds, or communicable skin conditions.
  • Sea Swimming: The sauna provides direct access to the beach; however, swimming in the sea or open water is undertaken entirely at your own risk. It is your personal responsibility to ensure you can tolerate exposure to cold tidal waters safely.
  • Personal Property: Changing areas and personal effects lockers are used entirely at your own risk. We do not accept liability for lost, missing, or stolen items.
  • Jewellery & Accessories: To prevent accidental skin burns, please remove all jewellery, watches, and metal accessories before entering the sauna. Swimwear should not feature metal components or heavy shaping panels that could overheat against the skin.
  • Slip Hazards: The outdoor paving, steps, and decking may be wet and slippery at times. You are required to exercise caution to avoid slips or falls. Appropriate footwear (such as flip-flops or sandals) should be worn outside the hot room.
  • Property Damage: Any damage caused to the sauna structure, stove, or facilities due to customer negligence, malice, or misuse must be paid for in full by the customer responsible (or the person who made the block booking).

Medical Insurance: Individual customers are entirely responsible for their own medical and/or personal injury insurance coverage.

2. CCTV Operation

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is in operation on our premises for the purposes of ensuring the safety and security of our staff, visitors, and property. CCTV footage is recorded and monitored in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Recordings are retained for a limited period unless required for the investigation of an incident or requested by An Garda Síochána or other authorised authorities. By entering our premises, you acknowledge and accept that CCTV recording is in operation.

3. Lost, Missing, or Stolen Property

  • Any items left behind by you will be collected by our team at the end of each operational day.
  • If you believe you have left an item behind, please email us directly at sauna@sthelensbaygolfresort.com with a description of the item and the date/time of your visit.
  • Lost property will be retained according to the following timeframes:
    • Swimwear & Towels: Held for 10 days.
    • Water Bottles: Held for 10 days.
    • Items of Value: Items of perceived higher value (e.g., jewellery, watches, keys, or electronic devices) will be securely held for up to 10 days.
    • Clothing & Footwear: Jackets, jumpers, footwear, etc., will be kept for 10 days.
  • After the 10-day retention period has passed, unclaimed items will be responsibly disposed of or donated to a local Wexford charity. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you if identifiable information is found on the item.

4. Sauna Etiquette

  • Enter and exit the hot room carefully, moving slowly and allowing space for others.
  • We recommend limiting continuous time inside the hot room to 5–15 minutes per stretch. Leave the room immediately if you feel unwell, dizzy, nauseous, or lightheaded.
  • Use the ladle provided to carefully pour water over the hot rocks. Only use the designated sauna water provided by staff.
  • Be considerate of other users during social sessions; always check with fellow guests before adding water to the hot rocks, as this rapidly increases steam and ambient heat.
  • Never touch the sauna stove or attempt to open the stove door. Only trained staff members are permitted to operate, fuel, or adjust the wood-fired stove.
  • Do not hang towels, swimwear, or clothing directly above or inside the sauna structure, as this poses an immediate fire risk.
  • Keep doorways and access walkways completely clear to allow safe movement.
  • Drink plenty of water before, during, and after your session to stay properly hydrated. Avoid eating heavy meals immediately prior to your session.
  • Always sit on a clean towel inside the sauna room to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Avoid applying heavy body lotions, oils, or cosmetic creams before entering the sauna, as these block skin pores and can stain the natural timber benches.
  • After your session, cool down gradually in the fresh coastal air, via our outside cold shower, or in the sea (at your own risk). Allow your body to rest for at least 10 minutes post-session to adjust.

5. Cancellations & Rescheduling Policy

  • To cancel or reschedule an existing booking, you must do so via your confirmation email link or by contacting us directly at sauna@sthelensbaygolfresort.com with your booking reference clearly stated.
  • We operate a strict 5-hour cancellation and rescheduling policy. Cancellations or amendments made with 5 or more hours’ notice prior to your scheduled start time will receive a full refund or session credit.
  • Cancellations, amendment requests, or “no-shows” occurring with less than 5 hours’ notice are completely non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • If we are forced to cancel your scheduled session due to unforeseen operational circumstances, extreme coastal weather warnings, or safety issues, you will be notified immediately via email/SMS and issued a full refund or an equivalent booking credit. We reserve the right to make essential scheduling changes as necessary.

6. Payment Processing

We utilize OB Payments for all secure online open banking transfers, transaction processing, and automated bookings. Your payment details are fully encrypted and securely handled by the payment gateway provider. Your financial data is never stored on our website or shared with us beyond the verified transaction amount and payment reference details.

7. Liability & Waiver

By booking an appointment and using our facilities, you explicitly acknowledge and accept the inherent physical risks associated with heat and cold therapies, including potential personal injury, physiological strain, or property loss. We accept no liability for accidents, medical emergencies, injuries, or lost personal belongings.

You confirm that:

  1. You have no underlying health conditions, cardiac issues, or medical contraindications preventing safe sauna use (if unsure, please consult your GP before booking).
  2. You will fully comply with all rules, staff instructions, and safety guidelines outlined herein.
  3. You assume full personal responsibility for your own physical wellbeing during your visit.

We reserve the right to revoke facility access immediately without a refund if any safety rules or staff directives are violated.

8. Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Ireland. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
